October 2024 ABI Student of the Month: Courtney Tai
Hello hello! My name is Courtney Tai and I’m a third year ABI student. I currently serve as the Vice President of the Vet Aide Club and the club has immensely increased my opportunities to enhance technical skills and explore internship opportunities in the area. I also work at the ARC so come say hi!
The ABI department has been really helpful in guiding me through class schedules, vet school requirements, and research opportunities. I had the amazing opportunity to live at a zoo in South Africa for two weeks and work with their animals as part of a Loop Abroad program. I performed blood draws on reptiles, created enrichment items for big cats, and met incredible and like-minded individuals from UCD. I highly recommend the experience for anyone considering it!
My post-grad plans are to take a gap year and expand my hands-on veterinary experience, then apply to vet school. I would be happy working with any animals, but big cats will always have my heart <3 Wishing everyone a great school year!!
