Animal Biology Newsletters

Occasionally the newsletter advertises labs that are recruiting undergraduates, or special internships/opportunities that can potentially lead to a practicum project.

UC Davis Internship and Career Center

Get help with all steps in the process of finding a job or internship! The ICC provides one-on-one advising as well as workshops for developing your professional skills, such as working on your resume/CV or nailing interviews.

Get an overview of research happening in all of the colleges, as well as UCD-affiliated centers and programs.


Special UC Davis Programs + Fellowships for Undergraduate Research:

Insect Biology Honors Program: Matches 1st and 2nd year students with faculty mentors for approximately 2-3 years. Students receive training in foundations of scientific research and writing, and participate in increasingly independent research in a field of their interest. (link)

Bodega Marine Laboratory: Offers a wide array of summer programs/classes, many of which have students live onsite in Bodega Bay, California. Also has many affiliated professors who can act as potential research mentors. (link)

Biology Undergraduate Scholars Program (BUSP): Students from disadvantaged backgrounds participate in a specially designed academic program for their first two years, and can begin participating in a research lab in their sophomore year. Prospective scholars apply coming in to their freshman year. (link)

University Honors Program (UHP): Students complete a "Signature Work" as a capstone to their undergraduate career (which can be the Animal Biology practicum). Students are expected to complete special requirements and coursework, and are able to enjoy special privileges as a part of the program. (link)

Provost's Undergraduate Fellowship: Awards of up to $1,800 for individual students conducting research in any field of study. (link)

McNair Scholars Program: Undergraduate fellowship intended to assist historically underrepresented or disadvantaged students in their journey to obtaining a PhD. Students have access to workshops and seminars, faculty research mentors, individualized advising, and more. (link)
