Applying as a Freshman

Interested in Animal Biology?

Naturally curious? Love animals? Want to be a part of a research-based program that you can design to suit your interests and prepare you for your future career?

The UC Davis Animal Biology major is a unique, student-centered program that proudly hosts a very diverse student body, with students bringing their unique goals and interests from all around the world. Our program is centered around undergraduate research and giving our students the maximum amount of resources and flexibility they need to design part of their own curriculum.

Many of our students have gone on to graduate programs (including veterinary school), and many have gone straight into the industry to work in lab research, zookeeping, environmental stewardship, government agencies, and much more.

Interested high school students/prospective freshmen are welcome regardless of what courses they have taken - we will individually set you up with classes that are right for you. See [here] for tips if you are interested in applying to veterinary or graduate programs after your undergraduate career.
