January 2025 ABI Student of the Month: Madison McAdam

Hi everyone! My name is Madison McAdam and I am a fourth year Animal Biology major with a Communication minor. I have always been interested in animals with my ultimate goal being vet school. Whether it be the numerous dogs in my family or my bug friends in the Orchard Park greenhouses, animals have always been a passion of mine. 

Going to Davis has been a dream come true, as it has allowed me to expand my interest in anthrozoology. The study of human-animal interactions blends my love for animals and communication, and the classes I have taken on this subject have been my favorite. I have also been performing anthrozoology research through my practicum. My practicum analyzes the UC Davis police department’s CORE program and their use of facility dogs in community-oriented policing. Through my practicum, I have found a passion for research, and while I still aspire to go to vet school, I intend to pursue anthrozoology research as well. After graduation, I intend to take a gap year to expand my veterinary experience before applying to schools.
