Ariana Nagainis | Class of '20
Ariana Nagainis is working in the Shah Lab studying how flaviviruses such as Zika and Dengue hijack host processes for replication. Her practicum project involved examining viral NS5 protein interactions with the human PAF1 protein complex. Since her practicum project, she has taken on another project in the Shah lab investigating ANKLE2 proteins physical interaction with viral NS4 proteins known to cause microcephaly. Zebrafish models are used to help observe microcephaly phenotypes as they are developing. She is excepted to attend graduate school in Medical Entomology Fall 2020.
